Latest Chelsea news: Remy squad number, what Jose taught Torres and Luis' humility

All the latest Chelsea news and rumours including summer signing Loic Remy's new shirt number, Fernando speaks from Milan and Filipe Luis on Brazil.

Chelsea have confirmed their squad numbers for the season and, while summer recruits such as Diego Costa (19) and Francesc Fabregas (4) had already been assigned their numbers, there was still ambiguity over what shirt number Loic Remy would wear.

Earlier today, it was revealed the Frenchman will be sporting 18 on his back. It was also reported that Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois were the only two goalkeepers on the squad list for the Champions League, meaning Mark Schwarzer will be limited to domestic football only.

Fernando Torres left Stamford Bridge after a woeful career as a Blues striker and joined the AC Milan roster, however, he is not embittered by his Chelsea experience, has remained a true professional and spoke fondly of the time he spent with manager Jose Mourinho.

"I had a very good relationship with Jose," he said. "When I was signed by Milan he wished me all the best. He spoke about the passion that the city of Milan has for football and that I would settle in well. I learnt a lot from him as a coach. I wish him all the best, as he has done with me.

"Perhaps in the future our paths will meet again. I don't need to say anything else. We have to always act and play as professionals."

Filipe Luis has called for humility in the Brazil camp but, in the same statement, also pronounced the Selecao "the most powerful international team in the World."

The full back said: "The time has come for us to keep our feet firmly on the ground and accept that the World Cup was not a good time for us. Speaking with all humility the world, Brazil is most powerful international team in the world.

"It has more world titles than anyone else… but we must be humble and admit that perhaps now some other teams are better."

When looking at the World Champions - Germany - and how easily they swept through the recent World Cup tournament in Brazil, there may be one or two arguments from Andre Schurrle as to whom the most powerful footballing nation truly is.

Regardless, Luis continued: "If we all think the same way and find a solid group, we can return to the beautiful game that has always been Brazil’s trademark and that's when the shirt will once again begin to weigh down on our opponents.”
