Celtic and Rangers latest: Bhoys confident of landing Manchester City star

We bring you the latest news from Rangers and Celtic.

Celtic confident of John Guidetti loan

Celtic are confident that they will be able to announce the loan signing of John Guidetti.

The Manchester City striker agreed terms and completed a medical with the Scottish champions on deadline day, but was not signed up before the close of play.

As a result, Celtic have had to appeal to the Scottish FA, but they are confident of a positive response.

Commons contract talks positive

Kris Commons says that he has held positive talks regarding Celtic’s future, after being offered a new contract.

The Bhoys star has been offered a new deal at Parkhead and he says that he wanted to be ensured that the club were going to move forward before committing his future.

“My agent has been in this week, obviously just for brief discussions, not just about the length of the contract I'm going to sign but what's going to be happening in the future for Celtic and where the board sees us in two or three years,” he said. "There were things said in the meeting that were positive."

Ally McCoist backs Lewis Macleod’s call-up

Ally McCoist says that Lewis Macleod’s call-up to the Scottish under 21 side was fully merited.

The Rangers midfielder has been in fine form for the Light Blues so far this season and it appears that his displays are starting to earn international recognition – which his manager feels is deserved.

“It’s brilliant,” he said. “I saw Lewis here yesterday training with the 21s and it’s great to see him back in the international set-up. He deserves it. His form so far this season has been very, very pleasing and we are delighted for him.”

Macleod delighted to be playing with idols

Lewis Macleod says that he is delighted to be playing alongside some of his idols at Ibrox.

The young Rangers talent says that he grew up watching the ‘Gers current strike duo and to play alongside them is a strange, but good, feeling.

"I watched Kris [Boyd] and Kenny [Miller] when I was a boy so to be playing alongside them now is pretty weird," he said. "But it is brilliant as well. I am loving every minute of it."
