Chelsea morning news: Courtois next in line for new deal, Torres speaks

A round up of news stories about Chelsea this morning.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been tipped for a new contract at the club.

The Belgian has been installed as the number one by Jose Mourinho and reports suggest he’ll be rewarded with a new contract.

Courtois made it clear that he wanted to play regularly in the first team when he returned from three seasons on loan at Atletico Madrid.

Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has spoken for the first time since leaving the club.

The Spaniard joined Italian giants AC Milan on a long term deal towards the end of the transfer window.

“When the chance to join Milan presented itself, I accepted and I am looking to score lots of goals again. I needed a new challenge,” he told the press.

Chelsea remain linked with Brazilian star Lucas Silva despite the close of the transfer window.

Silva was tipped to make a move to Stamford Bridge over the summer with Manchester United also thought to be interested in a move.

Tottenham have also been mentioned with an interest in a three-way fight which could break out for the £12 million rated star this winter.
