Arsenal morning news: Wenger provides Walcott update, Nastasic snubbed Gunners move

A round up of news stories about Arsenal this morning.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says there is no rush for Theo Walcott to return to competitive action.

Walcott has been out since suffering a knee injury against Tottenham Hotspur last season.

“He's doing well, but we'll respect the time. We have plenty of players who can fill in that role and we will respect the delay. The timing with Theo is end of the month to join in again, after the break in full training,” said Wenger.

Manchester City defender Matija Nastasic reportedly snubbed a transfer deadline day move to Arsenal.

Wenger was reportedly confident of landing the 21-year-old Serbian but a deal never developed.

Nastasic is currently behind Vincent Kompany and Martin Demichelis in the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium.

Former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham says Danny Welbeck’s move to Arsenal is sad for the club.

Welbeck completed a £16 million switch to the Gunners on deadline day earlier this week.

“We always worry about the young talent coming through, and obviously seeing Danny leave Manchester United is sad,” said Beckham.
