'What crisis?' - Southampton fans react on Twitter to late double deal

Southampton Football Club

Southampton signed Toby Alderweireld and Sadio Mane late on transfer deadline day.

Southampton ensured their transfer window ended on a high, clinching two impressive late signings.

The Saints brought in defender Toby Alderweireld on loan from Atletico Madrid, a Belgian international who had been interesting Arsenal.

They also clinched the addition of winger Sadio Mane from Red Bull Salzburg, an exciting attacker who arrives for a fee in the region of £12 million.

The pair add strength in attack and defence, for  club which saw a number of top stars leave this summer for big money.

Yet by holding onto the likes of Jay Rodriguez, Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama, Southampton fans can be confident their squad is arguably an improved one.

With Dusan Tadic, Graziano Pelle, Shane Long, Ryan Bertrand and Fraser Forster all previously signed, the exits of Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Calum Chambers do not seem too dramatic.

Earlier in the summer there was talk of 'crisis', and 'meltdown', among the national newspapers, and even the BBC.

Yet new manager Ronald Koeman has made good use of the money made available to him, and surely still has a substantial figure to spend in January should the right players be identified.

Here is a look at how Southampton fans reacted on Twitter to the additions of Alderweireld and Mane, reflecting on their transfer window as a whole:
