Could Arsenal still add another striker to their ranks despite the transfer window being closed?
Despite the transfer deadline closing, clubs are still permitted to sign players who are free agents and could add further depth to the club's striking department, despite the addition of Danny Welbeck.
Here are the two best options available to the Gunners:
Hugo Almeida is a Portuguese international, who has 19 goals for his country to his name, including two against Ireland in June.
Now aged 30, he was recently released by Besiktas. Earlier this month Almeida was linked with a move to Leicester City.
He scored 47 goals in 108 games for the Turkish side, and it is a little of a surprise he remains without a club. His former sides include Porto and Werder Bremen, playing alongside Mesut Ozil in the German side's 2008/09 Pokal triumph. There is little denying he would be an upgrade on Yaya Sanogo.
Former Brazilian international Jonas has become a free agent after convincing La Liga side Valencia to terminate his contract on deadline day.
The 31-year-old striker has eight caps for his country - netting twice, and has scored more than 50 goals in over 130 appearances for Valencia.
He scored 10 last season, and 19 in consecutive campaigns the two years previous, and has Champions League experience too.
Also able to play as an attacking midfielder, Jonas would be able to play alongside Danny Welbeck and the club's existing options, and still has plenty to offer.
Inside Spanish Football report Sunderland are interested along with his former side Gremio, and Arsenal would be wise to consider the option.
