The 35-year-old former Manchester United centre-back is known for airing his views on social networking site Twitter, and now he has had his say on which Premier League club has done the best transfer business.
Ferdinand posted the following this morning:
Chelsea done best in this transfer window for me.....made loads of money & spent it wisely on experienced & proven quality. What u think??— Rio Ferdinand (@rioferdy5) September 2, 2014
Many would be inclined to agree with the former England international. Despite having spent £87.7 million on new recruits, Jose Mourinho's side have stunningly made a profit this summer.
Spanish duo Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Loic Remy have arrived, while David Luiz, Romelu Lukaku, Demba Ba and Patrick van Aanholt have been let go.
Taking all of this into account, Chelsea's net spend this window is in the black at -£800,000, which is a phenomenal achievement when you consider how they have got to this stage with owner Roman Abramovich.
Can anyone rival Chelsea's intelligent spending this summer?
Well, the only other two Premier League clubs who have made it into the black are Southampton - unsurprising when you consider who they have sold - and Tottenham Hotspur, who seem to have learned from the mistakes of last summer.
Obviously it's difficult to judge after just three games, but winning three out of three and sitting top of the Premier League would suggest that Chelsea have done something right this summer.
