Manchester United have confirmed that Daley Blind will wear the number 17 shirt at the club this season.
The Dutch international completed his £13.8million move from Ajax to Old Trafford on transfer deadline day, becoming one of six players to arrive at the club this summer.
The 24-year-old signed an intial four-year deal and his versatility and experience of Louis van Gaal’s methods will both be vital as the club look to put their disappointing start behind them and swiftly climb up the Premier League table.
Blind impressed for the Netherlands during the World Cup, providing the wonderful cross-field assist for Robin van Persie’s sublime header against Spain.
United fans will be hoping he can supply a few more of those in the coming campaigns.
Blind joins Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao at United this season, but it remains to be seen how van Gaal will fit all his best players into an effective starting XI.
