As the euphoria of deadline day unfolded, new Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck was preparing for England’s fixture against Norway tomorrow night.
Welbeck duelled with new Arsenal teammate Jack Wilshere as Roy Hodgson mulled over who to start with for the friendly fixture.
Welbeck brings plenty of qualities to the table for the Gunners, with his versatility in attack and his pace likely to make him popular with the club’s supporters.
Welbeck also showed his defensive qualities in England training as he closed down Wilshere, looking to win back possession.
Providing Welbeck doesn’t pick up an injury in England’s games against Norway and the European qualifier against Switzerland this Monday, he’ll be in line to make his Arsenal debut against Manchester City on September 13.
Arsene Wenger was under immense pressure to secure a striker on deadline day yesterday but Welbeck guarantees Premier League experience and should score goals regularly if he’s played in his best position, through the middle.
