Matt Smith has sealed his switch to Fulham from Leeds United.
Striker Matt Smith clinched a deadline day move to Fulham from Leeds, and the 25-year-old has been prompt in sending a message of thanks to fans of his now former club.
The ex-Oldham Athletic striker only signed a new three-year deal with the club in April, and his move was somewhat of a surprise.
He links up with another former Leeds man in Ross McCormack, and had the following to say via Twitter on Tuesday morning:
(1/2) From the bottom of my heart, a huge thank you to everyone at @LUFC for the incredible support you've given me over the past 14 months.— Matt Smith (@mattjpsmith) September 2, 2014
(2/2) Would like to wish you all the best for the future. I'm taking with me some truly amazing memories & experiences.— Matt Smith (@mattjpsmith) September 2, 2014
Smith, whose only goal this campaign has come in the Capital One Cup, had another message to send regarding looking forward to playing his football at Craven Cottage.
Extremely proud & excited to become a @FulhamFC player. Very determined ahead of this new chapter in my life. Thanks for all your kind msgs.— Matt Smith (@mattjpsmith) September 2, 2014
Fulham fans will certainly hope he can turn it around, for they currently sit 23rd out of 24 teams in the Championship without a win in their five opening games.
