Manchester United star is 'a bit chubby' says ex-Southampton man

Former Southampton defender Vegard Forren has called Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney 'a bit chubby' ahead of England's match against Norway tomorrow.

Norway defender Vegard Forren has called England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney ‘a bit chubby’.

The 26-year-old centre-back was speaking before England’s match against Norway tomorrow night, and he was pretty disparaging towards the Three Lions captain.

“Rooney looks a bit chubby,” Forren said to the media in his homeland. “They’re obviously good players, and many of them are on good form already after three games in the Premier League, but we’re looking forward to it.”

Forren has spent part of his career in the Premier League, but never made an appearance for Southampton during his brief stint there.

For the rest of his time as a player to date he has represented Molde, where he is regarded as one of the best players in Norwegian first division.

Forren has accumulated 11 caps for Norway during his career to date, but he won’t have faced too many better strikers than the man he called 'chubby' during his career.

Rooney is arguably the best English player in recent memory and will be looking to show that he is the man to lead the Three Lions as they look to ignite the nation’s appetite for international football once again.

Only 30,000 tickets have been sold for tomorrow night’s friendly against Norway, meaning that Wembley will look empty, and it is sign of the apathy that Roy Hodgson’s side have to face.

England supporters have grown frustrated by the constant failure of the side in major international competitions and appear to have voted with their feet now.

Hodgson’s team failed to win a game in Brazil and are now looking to bring through a new generation of stars, with Rooney the captain.

His first game since taking up the position will be tomorrow’s fixture, and he now has added motivation to succeed after Forren’s comments.
