Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Falcao deal

Manchester United fans have reacted to the news that the club have signed Monaco forward Radamel Falcao on an initial loan deal.

Manchester United have agreed a loan deal with Monaco for striker Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian has been linked with several European clubs throughout the summer but United have won the race to sign him, paying an initial loan fee with a reported option to make the deal a permanent one.

United boss Louis van Gaal has been under pressure to make big name signings in the transfer window following a frustrating start to the season for the Old Trafford club, which sees them still chasing their first competitive win under the Dutchman.

How United setup with Falcao leading the attack remains to be seen but a constant injury to forward Robin Van Persie appears to have prompted van Gaal to go after Falcao’s signing.

Van Persie’s niggles may have to be managed for the rest of the season but Falcao is a world class player to have coming into the side alongside the likes of Van Persie and club captain Wayne Rooney.

It’s likely that in an ideal situation, Van Persie and Falcao will start together with Wayne Rooney dropped off to the top of the midfield to play alongside Angel Di Maria and another, more defensive, middle man.

Arsenal were linked with Falcao but have seemingly been put off by his wage demands while Real Madrid were also thought to be in for the Colombian striker.

He’s previously said that Real Madrid would have been a dream but he’s now faced with making a name for himself in England as United look to get back into the Champions League.

United have previously been criticised this summer for overpaying for some of their transfers. However, the club has to be praised for getting their business done and attracting world class players without the lure of the Champions League.

Here’s what United fans have had to say about the Falcao deal on Twitter.
