A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Tuesday evening.

Tottenham's new signing Benjamin Stambouli said he couldn't refuse the club after he signed a five-year deal before the transfer deadline yesterday.

The midfielder joined the club from Montpellier for an undisclosed fee believed to be around £5 million.

Sky Sports have picked up on quotes from L'Equipe, where the 24-year-old said: “You can’t refuse a club like Tottenham. I didn’t hesitate.

“Going abroad was a choice for my personal life. I wanted to discover a new football, another culture.

“To be a regular in the first team will be difficult but that is high level football.

“There are a lot of good players, but that is no problem. I also faced competition at Montpellier before being regularly in the first team.

“I met Mauricio Pochettino on Monday. The coach wants to play a game that I like."

Defender Ben Dier has insisted the side will improve after Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at White Hart Lane.

After a promising start to the season where Spurs won their opening two Premier League games, Tottenham were well beaten by the Reds.

He told the Tottenham website: “We didn’t start the game too well and we paid for it with the early goal, but we’ve got to keep going.

“You can’t take the highs too high and the lows too low, you’ve just got to learn from it and keep trying to improve – that’s something we can strive for.”
