Enrique is impressed with the progress that 19-year-old Sterling is making at Liverpool.
Liverpool left-back Jose Enrique has said he expects Raheem Sterling to score at least 15 goals for the Reds this season, as the 19-year-old seems to have picked up from where he left off last season.
Sterling became a pivotal part of the Liverpool side last season as his devastating pace, versatility and end product all proved to be too much for opposition defences - as he scored 10 goals in all competitions during the second half of last season's campaign.
Enrique rates Sterling highly and is backing him to be a star for the Reds this season, as the early indications show that last season's performance level for the Reds, which provided a second-place finish in the Premier League, wasn't a flash in the pan.
The Spaniard told the Liverpool Echo: “Raheem is one of the best young players in the world for sure.
“He’s doing unbelievably well for us. I think this season he’s going to score 15 goals or more. We’ve already told him that.
“He’s going to make a massive impact in this team.
“He’s still young but you can see over the past two years just how much he has improved.
“Everyone was talking before about how he doesn’t make many assists or score many goals but this season he’s got two already.
“Now he’s adding goals to his game he’s a massive player for us.”
Some will probably say that 15 is on the low side for Sterling given his impressive start to the season. He has opened the scoring in both games the Reds have taken maximum points in so far this season against Southampton and Tottenham.
Though some will think at Sterling's age there are going to inevitable lulls, he has started the season in a very good fashion and is likely to cause more and more problems for defenders for the rest of the season. Some will regard 15 goals in all competitions as a conservative estimate - 15 league goals on the other hand from a player in midfield would be a very good return.
