Following his return to Borussia Dortmund, Shinji Kagawa has received much love from Manchester United fans on social media. But it is not just the supporters who are sorry to see him go, his former teammates have also got in on the act.
In the midst of the deadline day craziness, United goalkeeper David de Gea sent Kagawa a message on Twitter, wishing him well on his return to the Bundesliga.
Along with a picture of the two players holding the Community Shield, the Spanish international wrote the following message: "Thanks for all mate! We'll miss you!! Good luck on your new adventure."
Kagawa was sold back to Dortmund for a reported €8million last week, around half what United paid for him during Sir Alex Ferguson's time at the club. Many believe the Japanese international did not get enough chances in his preferred position at Old Trafford, while others feel his performances - when he did get on the pitch - were not of the required standard.
Either way, it would be no surprise if he now gets back among the goals - and the man-of-the-match performances - having returned to a club who know exactly how to use him effectively.
