Manchester City club legend Micah Richards has joined Fiorentina, according to the latest deadline day transfer news and club captain has paid tribute.
With Micah Richards being relegated to a tertiary choice right back at Manchester City following the addition of Bacary Sagna to the club's roster, it was perhaps a foregone conclusion that the Englishman would be sold in the summer market.
His exit may only have been ratified on transfer deadline day, but Richards is now no longer a Manchester City employee after 13 years of service from youth level to senior selection.
The defender, now 26, has joined Fiorentina as the Serie A side look to bounce-back from an opening day loss in order to get their league campaign back on track - and he has been honoured by his former skipper at the Etihad Stadium due to his service in the North-West.
Vincent Kompany said on Twitter: "[Micah Richards is a] club legend. I am proud to have played six years alongside this man.
"Congratulations and good luck."
Richards played just twice last year, as Pablo Zabaleta held down the right back position. His last campaign where he featured regularly was in 2011-12 where he returned 53 tackles, 90 clearances and provided two assists and one goal from 29 Premier League appearances.
