Redknapp: "He’s not only a top quality footballer, but a fantastic boy as well. He’ll lead by example for us." pic.twitter.com/hEujjnNnKP— QPR FC (@QPRFC) September 1, 2014
QPR sealed one of the biggest surprise signings on deadline day when they snapped up Sandro from Tottenham.
The midfielder dubbed 'The Beast' by Spurs fans was permitted to leave for a fee in the region of £10 million.
His exit is a case in point of new manager Mauricio Pochettino putting his own stamp on the club, with Sandro rejoining former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp at QPR.
Sandro had a disappointing season for Tottenham last season as he attempted to bounce back from a serious knee injury, which he suffered when playing the best football of his career.
The Brazilian is also a Copa Libertadores winner with Internacional, and is a very important signing for QPR's midfield, signing instead of Lassana Diarra who had been touted for a switch ahead of deadline day.
Sandro, 25, is yet to feature in the Premier League so far this season, and made only 10 league starts during 2013/14. Spurs have signed Montpellier's Benjamin Stambouli as a replacement.
QPR boss Harry Redknapp hailed his addition, telling the club's website: "Sandro’s a proper footballer and a top class professional – he’s an absolutely fantastic signing for us. I couldn’t be more pleased.
“He’s been a massive target of mine all summer and I honestly didn’t think we’d be able to pull it off – it’s a real statement from the club, from the owners, to bring in a player of his undoubted ability."
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to Sandro's departure:
Understand the logic of selling Sandro (injuries/contract) but he's a far better & quicker passer of the ball than Capoue #THFC— Alan (@hotspur423) September 1, 2014
At least Sandro has gone. He was the most overhyped and the biggest liability I have ever seen as a Brazilian #THFC— Mark Wools (@markwools) September 1, 2014
Sandro gone! Gutted! qpr got a bargain! Shocking business levy! #thfc— Christopher Devitt (@YiddoDev) September 1, 2014
