Shinji Kagawa agreed to rejoin Borussia Dortmund after the Bundesliga heavyweights struck a deal with Manchester United over the player's transfer.
While Kagawa had obvious talent, he was rarely entrusted with a central playmaking role at Old Trafford but, having only signed his Borussia Dortmund deal yesterday (see contract above), the player has been awarded a shirt number hallowed at his former club - United.
As confirmed by BvB earlier today, Monday, Kagawa will wear the number seven jersey for Dortmund.
An official statement on Manutd.com said: "Everyone at Manchester United wishes him well for the future."
Kagawa reportedly signed a four-year deal.
While United have been aggressive players in the summer market, securing the recruitment of Angel di Maria, Marcos Rojo, Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera - with Radamel Falcao allegedly on the way - the club could also sign off on deals involving Javier Hernandez, Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fallaini and Danny Welbeck heading the other way.
