Boost for QPR as Napoli out of chase for Spurs midfielder

Sandro Brazil

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez has ruled out a move for Spurs midfielder Sandro leaving Queens Park Rangers as favourites for his signature.

Sandro has been linked with a move away from Spurs for much of the summer and the Brazilian midfield enforcer could depart by tonight's transfer deadline.

Napoli boss Rafael Benitez is an admirer of Sandro though he has ruled out a move for the midfielder today and claims that the Italian club will not be bringing in any names until January.

"I think the market is closed, at least for incoming players, though some could still leave if everyone reaches an agreement with the right terms," Benitez said.

Queens Park Rangers are expected to make a move for the man nicknamed 'The Beast' today, though they will have to smash their transfer record as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants around £16 million for a permanent move away.

The 25-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Spurs in the past year and QPR could settle for a loan deal if a permanent switch is out of the question.

Harry Redknapp is always busy on deadline day and a reunion with Sandro would certainly strengthen the R's midfield.

QPR have also been linked with moves for Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe as the club look likely to bring a few faces in before tonight's deadline.

Would Sandro be a good signing for QPR?
