Chadli had a good opportunity to get Spurs back on level terms.
After Raheem Sterling had put the visitors ahead, a chance fell to Chadli to equalise from a long ball, only for him to be denied by Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal.
If the chance had been converted then Spurs were likely to have gone in a half-time on level terms. But they were still behind and were punished by Liverpool shortly after the half-time break.
He told the Tottenham website: “We had the chances to come back, I had one, Ade as well and if we’d scored, perhaps it’s a different game. After that, Liverpool were more confident and scored the second and third goals.
“When the ball came through to me I thought it would go a little in front of me but it stopped so I had to make a fast choice, because the defender was coming back so I took the volley. It’s a shame the ball didn’t go into the net but he made a good save.”
Once Liverpool took complete control of the game in the second half, Spurs found it very difficult to create opportunities as the visitors looked hungry for more goals, and were determined get their first clean sheet of the season on the board, as they look to address an aspect of their side that let them down on several occasions last season.
If Spurs had managed to go in at half time on level terms, it could have been a bit of a sucker punch for Liverpool and the start of the second half could've had a very different feel to it. It does seem like it was a crucial moment in this particular encounter.
