Former Arsenal talent Frimpong joins obscure Russian outfit

Emmanuel Frimpong is to play his football in the Russian Premier League next season.

Things have gone downhill fast for Arsenal's former hot prospect Emmanuel Frimpong, but today it looked as though things were looking up - as he was being heavily linked with a move to AS Roma on Twitter.

The Ghanaian international was once tipped as a massive talent for the future at Arsenal by his ex-boss Arsene Wenger. But he became more famous for his catchphrase 'Dench' then he ever did for his footballing prowess.

He suffered awfully with knee injuries throughout his career and was sold to Barnsley in January 2013 after Arsenal decided he was surplus to requirements. He had a horror debut for the club, getting himself sent off, and failed to shine with The Tykes so at the end of the campaign he was released following the Yorkshire club's relegation to League One.

He had a failed three week trial at Austrian outfit Sturm Graz this summer, so the news that Roma were keen seemed too good to be true. Although he did joke the other day that he should turn up to Manchester United training - considering their struggled at the start of the season.

Which it was, because he has in fact joined Russian outfit FC Ufa. Who you ask? Fair enough, because they are an obscure and unknown club. They were only formed in 2010 and were promoted to the Russian Premier League for the first time in their history this summer.

It sounds an almost unbelievable deal, so here is the photo of Frimpong in the Ufa kit after completing his deal.

Looking Dench!
