Chelsea star hints Manchester United midfielder deal is off?

Marco Van Ginkel playing for Vitesse

Marco van Ginkel has revealed how Nigel de Jong was key in persuading him to sign for AC Milan on loan.

Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has sealed his loan move to AC Milan, after it was earlier reported he had turned down the opportunity.

The Dutchman was not in Chelsea's first team plans, and joins Fernando Torres in joining the Italian side.

Speaking about the move, van Ginkel has unintentionally hinted that a midfielder linked with a deadline day move to Manchester United will be going nowhere.

The Star wrote 24 hours ago that De Jong was expected to sign for the Red Devils along with Daley Blind, with Louis van Gaal keen on the former Manchester City man.

Van Ginkel told AC Milan's website on Monday morning: "I am very happy with the move, Milan is a club where the have played many Dutch players, big names.

I'm happy to be here at last. I know Nigel De Jong from previous experiences with the national team, I talked with him about Milan and he told me good things about the club. I have not met up with him here, but I'll see him soon."

The Chelsea loanee's comments would suggest that De Jong is going nowhere, and intends on continuing with AC Milan.

A late move to United could still be in the offing, but it is more likely he will be playing in the same side as Marco van Ginkel once deadline day is over.
