Sebastian Coates will spend another loan spell away from Liverpool, this time at Premier League club Sunderland.
The Uruguayan defender arrived at Anfield from Nacional in 2011 after being voted the Best Young Player at that year's Copa America.
However, Coates has featured just 24 times for Liverpool, and returned to his homeland last season for a loan spell back in the Primera Division.
With Dejan Lovren, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Skrtel all ahead of him in the pecking order at Anfield, he will head to the Black Cats where he will be hoping to impress both Gus Poyet and Brendan Rodgers.
But following initial reports of the move, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to have his say, and he reflected on another young defender struggling for game-time.
"Loan for Coates looks likely again," Carragher wrote. "Another young CB at LFC hasn't worked out. Hard to get games as a young player in that position."
At 23, Coates is not as young as some defenders who are starring for their clubs this season. But he will have to go some to dislodge three such experienced defenders and a loan move could be the best option for him at this stage.
With a contract at Anfield until the summer of 2016, he still has time to prove to Rodgers that he is the player who was so hailed at the Copa America just a few short years ago...but that time is running out.
