Leeds United have completed their fifteenth signing of the summer with the acquisition of Dario Del Fabro on a season-long loan from Cagliari, reported on Twitter by the LUFC official page.
The deal to bring Dario to Elland Road also includes the option to make his move permanent should he have a successful loan spell #lufc— Leeds United FC (@LUFC) agosto 31, 2014
The Whites’ owner Massimo Cellino has used his connections to good use this summer and Del Fabro is the ninth to arrive in Yorkshire from his native Italy.
The 19-year-old central defender comes with a good reputation having represented the Italian national team at Under-16s through to the Under-19s, scoring his first goal for the Azzuri in 2013.
Despite being labelled as a potential future Italian full international, his options were limited at Cagliari and he therefore spent last season on loan at Pescara.
Del Fabro made a total of six Serie A appearances, with his debut coming against Serie A champions Juventus in 2012.
In other news, Leeds’ attempts to add yet more faces to their ever-changing squad have been given a major boost as the Elland Road outfit reportedly closes in on a deal to sign exciting striker Brian Montenegro.
According to Sky Sports Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Paraguayan under-20 international is expected to be in Leeds later this evening to undertake a medical.
“Leeds has essentially closed the deal to acquire Brian Montenegro, a striker born in 1993 who currently plays for Club Libertad. The player is expected in Leeds this evening to take the medical, he will then sign the contract with Cellino’s club,” the report states.
Should he arrive, the 21-year-old will add more competition up front as the Championship promotion hopefuls bid to replace the 29 goals scored by former striker Ross McCormack last season.
Montenegro has had experience in England before, but a year-long loan spell at West Ham United in 2011 was not rewarded with a permanent deal.
