Reina joined up with the Reds the following season, going on to win the FA Cup in his first season working with Rafa Benitez.
Interestingly, the Spaniard has now gone the way of the man he replaced - Jerzy Dudek.
Dudek left Liverpool to become Iker Casillas's deputy at Real Madrid, with Reina now having done the same by joining Bayern Munich, where he will act as Manuel Neuer's no.2
The 31-year-old is, though, excited ahead of the new season - especially now that he has been reunited with ex-Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Bayern recenty signed Alonso from Real Madrid on a two-year contract, where the 32-year-old will likely fit in perfectly under boss Pep Guardiola due to his brilliant range of passing.
Alonso has also worked with Reina at international level, with the duo winning the World Cup and two European Championships during their time together with the Spanish national side.
Midfielder Alonso has since retired from international duty, though his commitment to the game at club level remains - and will be fully tested during his time at the Allianz Arena.
Hamann, who left Liverpool in 2006 after seven years with the club, was also with the duo in Germany.
