Leeds United returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday.
The first chance of the match fell to Bolton after 12 minutes when Joe Mason tried his luck from close range after collecting Jay Spearing’s through-ball, but his effort was saved.
Five minutes later Stephen Warnock put Leeds in front when he turned in a pass from Billy Sharp with his left foot from inside the Bolton penalty box.
Sharp himself came close to making it 2-0 to the hosts in the 33rd minute with a header from a Scott Wootton cross, but it was saved.
The Leeds star had another chance on the stroke of half time, but this time his effort from outside the Bolton box was not on target.
Bolton started the second half the better of the two sides and had a chance after just 33 seconds when Mason drilled in a cross, but Craig Davies could not turn it towards the Leeds goal.
Spearing, Mason and Matt Mills all had chances before the hour mark, and although Dougie Freedman’s side continued to create opportunities for the rest of the match, they failed to find the equaliser.
