Fernando Torres may have left Chelsea for AC Milan, but people keep making jokes at the expense of the striker.
The Spain international has been mocked so much in the past three-and-a-half years that the jokes are not even funny anymore and are quite repetitive. After all, what else can you say that has not already been said about the ‘£50 million flop’?
However, former Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona striker Gary Lineker still has made a joke, taking to social networking site Twitter to post the following.
Torres to AC Milan then. An absolute bargain at £12.50.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) August 29, 2014
That tweet was made on Friday evening when it emerged that Chelsea have agreed to let Torres leave for Milan on a two-year loan deal, effectively severing their ties with the 30-year-old as his current contract with the Blues runs out in June 2016.
Then on Saturday evening during Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park, Lineker took yet another shot at Torres, this time summarising his woeful form in a single tweet.
Diego Costa has already scored more than half as many @premierleague goals than Torres managed in the entirety of last season.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) August 30, 2014
One point that Lineker made on Twitter relating to Torres that would have interested Arsenal fans is about Chelsea making a move for Loic Remy.
The Queens Park Rangers striker is now set to join the Blues, and the England legend states that perhaps Arsenal should have signed the France international.
Seems Remy is going to Chelsea. Thought Arsenal might have gone for him. Perhaps they did.— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) August 29, 2014
With Olivier Giroud out injured, Arsenal are reported to be in the market for a replacement. Remy was one of the names mentioned in regard to a move to the Emirates Stadium earlier this summer, but it appears that the Frenchman will join their London rivals Chelsea instead.
