New Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has been sent a message by the man he seemingly replaces at the Allianz Arena.
Legendary midfielder Xabi Alonso and emerging superstar Toni Kroos have oft competed against each other, both internationally, when Spain have been matched with Germany, and also at club-level, in Real Madrid and Bayern Munich battles.
For one month, they trained together, as Real Madrid acquired the coveted Bayern pass master. But, alas, destiny has seen them become rivals once more as Bayern Munich signed the former Liverpool player on a bargain £5 million deal.
Manager Pep Guardiola had been courting Alonso since September, last year, as he feared his Bavaria giants could not control games - he now finally has his man.
And the player he seemingly replaced, Kroos, was quick to send him a message on Facebook. One of congratulations, but one that also reminded Alonso of where Kroos's loyalties lie.
"Xabi Alonso, I wish you all the best for your new job at Bayern Munich; go Madrid!" He said.
