Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Champions League group - 'No sleepless nights for Mourinho!'

Chelsea were drawn against Schalke, Sporting Lisbon and Maribor in their Champions League group.

If Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho could have hand picked his team’s Champions League group from the draw yesterday, he probably would have gone for something similar to the group the Blues ended up with.

Chelsea will face games against FC Schalke, Sporting Lisbon and Maribor as they bid to go one better than last season and make it into the final of this season’s European Cup.

The matches against Schalke will be difficult because the German side are very experienced in this competition in the recent past.

Germany is also a very difficult place to go and play football.

German clubs keep the prices of their tickets down, which means sell out crowds at big venues and Schalke’s fans will back them to cause an upset when the Blues come to town.

Sporting are also a difficult proposition for Chelsea to negotiate because they have some extremely talented individual players.

Whether Sporting have the tactical expertise to get the better of Chelsea or to get out of this group is doubtful.

However, they have plenty of players who can hurt Chelsea if any of Jose Mourinho’s men go to sleep at a key time during a big game, which could make the difference between first and second place.

Maribor are the clear underdogs for this group and the Blues will be targeting them for six points in their matches at home and away.

They could try and work that to their advantage because what do they have to lose?

Chelsea are the favourites to win this group and if they achieve that, they should be handed a more favourable game heading into the last 16 of the competition where they competed well last season.

Here’s what Chelsea fans have had to say about their group on social media website Twitter.
