The news, interestingly, has been revealed by a rival manager - Dougie Freedman.
The Bolton boss was keen on bringing Ibe to the Reebok Stadium on loan but says his wages were out of the club's budget.
Instead, Ibe could be set for his second Championship loan spell in as many seasons - but at Derby not Bolton.
The Rams have enojoyed another strong start to the season under Steve McClaren.
“Jordon looks like he is going to Derby,” Freedman is quoted as saying by the Bolton News. “It looks like we have missed out on that one once again.
“The contribution that we would have had to make financially was too difficult for us to meet.”
Ibe spent some of last season on loan at Birmingham City, where he scored once but did not enjoy an especially spectacular campaign.
With the likes of Raheem Sterling, Lazar Markovic, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana and more competing for a place out wide (or in the no.10 role) for Liverpool, a temporary switch for the promising Ibe makes sense.
The same could also happen for 20-year-old Suso.
