Rockstar warn GTA Online updates will require HDD upgrade on 12GB PS3s

GTA Online

Owners of 12GB PS3 systems will either need to upgrade the hard drive to play Grand Theft Auto V or forgo playing the game online.

All GTA Online title updates past 1.16 (released on 19th August) will need more storage space than the 12GB PS3 system can hold, according to a Rockstar support page.

Owners of 12GB PS3s who don’t wish to upgrade their hard drives will be able to keep playing the story mode but must do so without connecting to the PlayStation Network.

PS3 disc storage can be upgraded with either an officially licensed kit or a standard 2.5" SATA drive. Sony give official support for upgrading your PS3 storage via this link.

Since its release in September 2013 Grand Theft Auto V has proven wildly popular with 34 million copies sold to date on PS3 and Xbox 360. Rockstar announced the game will be coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One this autumn, although recent rumours suggest these releases may be delayed until next year.
