Predicted Arsenal XI to play Leicester City - Any changes necessary?

Match to be played on Sunday 31st August 2014 at 16:00. Venue: King Power Stadium, Leicester.

Arsenal head into their third game of the Premier League season already trailing Chelsea and Manchester City but off the back of a high having qualified for the Champions League.

The Gunners will be looking to get back on track with three points in the league and they will head into the trip to Leicester as the favourites to come away with all three points.

Here’s the side Arsene Wenger could go with for the game.

GK – Wojciech Szczesny

The Pole is Arsenal’s number one and he’ll continue in that role until he either gets injured, is rested or makes bad mistakes.

RB – Mathieu Debuchy

Debuchy took a knock in the game against Besiktas following a heavy collision but pulled through, he keeps his place at right-back.

CB – Per Mertesacker

The big German looked right at home in the heart of Arsenal’s defence. He’s improving and getting sharper all the time.

CB – Laurent Koscielny

The French defender looks to be in good form and has an easy and understanding relationship next to Mertesacker in the back four.

LB – Nacho Monreal

Monreal will continue on the left hand side of defence as Kieran Gibbs is out with a hamstring problem.

RM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

The Ox’s speed on the counter attack was superb against Besiktas and demonstrated how he can put defenders onto the back foot quickly.

DM – Mathieu Flamini

Flamini does the dirty work in midfield and snaps at the heels of opponents, making it difficult for them to settle in possession.

CM – Jack Wilshere

This is a real opportunity for Wilshere to show that he can pull the strings and dictate the pace of the play regularly this season.

AM – Mesut Ozil

Didn’t have his best game against Besiktas but he’s back and is getting fitter all the time.

LM – Santi Cazorla

Cazorla may start out on the left but don’t expect him to stay there. He’ll drift all over the midfield, popping up in positions where he’s needed.

ST – Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez’s goal last night will do him a world of good and he’s likely to continue in the centre forward role.
