Tottenham Hotspur used their second leg Europa League encounter with AEL Limassol this evening, Thursday, as an opportunity to unveil centre back signing Federico Fazio, who has been acquired from Sevilla for an undisclosed amount.
Fazio is a towering defender who is fully adept at aerial challenges, yet Spain expert Guillem Balague identified a potential flaw in his football style.
A lack of pace, though, can be compensated by expert positioning and a nous for timing a challenge, or interception - two traits Fazio does possess.
What could be troubling for manager Mauricio Pochettino is that Fazio is most accustomed to playing on the left side of the heart of defence, an area normally reserved for Jan Vertonghen, who is more than likely going to be Fazio's regular partner at the back.
How Pochettino tackles this tactical dilemma remains to be seen, but for now the Spurs fans appear content with the purchase.
