Milan well short of Torres wages, but Mourinho sends encouraging text

As AC Milan struggle to find a salary for Fernando Torres, Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly sent a supportive text to the Rossoneri.

AC Milan aren't finding it easy to agree a loan deal for Fernando Torres, but they seem to have received an unlikely message of support from Jose Mourinho.

The San Siro side are trying to bring in a replacement for Mario Balotelli, who left for Liverpool, but their striker hunt is proving to be something of a challenge.

Milan have identified Chelsea marksman Torres as their primary objective and have agreed a loan in principle with the Stamford Bridge side.

However, it appears that the Italian club can't afford Torres's wage bill and may have to give up.

According to reports from Sportmediaset, Torres earns £5.3 million per season at Chelsea and has so far been paid around £950,000 for July and August.

Milan are trying to find roughly £4.3 million which would secure Torres's services for the rest of the campaign, but vice-president Adriano Galliani doesn't have that kind of money at his disposal for wages.

It is suggested that Milan have roughly half that sum to offer, but Torres isn't likely to agree to that, especially as he would probably have to forego any possible bonuses he would get at Chelsea for winning the Premier League, FA Cup or Champions League.

However, while Milan are trying to negotiate, Jose Mourinho is said to have sent a friendly text message to the Diavolo directors, joking that despite his Inter past he wishes them the best.

"Perhaps I'm the only Interista who likes AC Milan," Mourinho reportedly texted.

Milan are also attempting to bring in Chelsea's Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel on loan, but it has been reported that the player has rejected the idea.
