Liverpool were drawn alongside Real Madrid, FC Basel and Ludogorets in Group B.
Liverpool were in their first Champions League draw since 2009 as the draw for the Group Stages of this season's competition took place in Monaco on Thursday evening.
The Reds were drawn alongside Real Madrid, FC Basel and Bulgarian side Ludogorets in Group B on their return to the competition.
Despite being drawn alongside the European Champions, Liverpool fans seemed pretty happy with the draw with many thinking qualification is well within their reach.
Basel are an experienced side in European competition whilst Ludogorets are the unknowns in the competition after a dramatic play-off win against Steaua Bucharest.
Inevitably the big talking point was the Reds being paired with the holders, and fans seem excited at the prospect of welcoming Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo along with the rest of the Real Madrid side to Anfield.
Here is what a few Liverpool fans said on twitter about the draw:
Excellent draw for us! Should definitely be able to get a top 2 placement and go through. #LFC— Viktor Fagerström (@ViktorFagerLFC) August 28, 2014
Made up with the draw. Deffo think we'll qualify. Can't see us losing at home in the group and a trip to the Bernabeu thrown in. #LFC— danny brash (@Danny_BrashLFC) August 28, 2014
Can Liverpool make it through to the knockout stages?
