Leeds United are poised to follow up their disappointing Capital One Cup defeat at Bradford City by making a move in the transfer market.
The next addition is set to be Paraguayan striker Brian Montenegro.
Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio reports Montenegro is 'virtually a Leeds player' and is scheduled to undertake a medical with the Championship side on Friday.
The 21-year-old plays for Nacional Ascunsion in his homeland, and had been in negotiations to sign with Italian side Palermo.
Montenegro, a star of the FIFA under-20 World Cup in 2013, had a brief loan spell with West Ham United in 2011/12.
He made only one appearance however in the FA Cup and the Hammers decided not to pursue interest in the striker.
Montenegro has experience of playing and scoring in South America's top club competition the Copa Libertadores.
