Three players Arsenal could sign after huge Besiktas game

Arsene Wenger In Emirates Press Conference 2

Arsenal have been tipped to press on with signings after this evening's Champions League play-off game against Besiktas.

Several sources have suggested that Arsenal are waiting to find out their Champions League fate before making further moves in the transfer market.

There are positions where extra players would give the Gunners a stronger squad heading into September but waiting until after the game this evening against Besiktas seems to be what Arsene Wenger wants to do.

It’s a match which could determine Arsenal’s budget for the coming season so it makes sense.

If the reports which have suggested that’s why Arsenal are waiting are accurate, there could be some frantic transfer movement at the club tomorrow and we’ve looked at five players the Gunners could sign.

Loic Remy (QPR)

Arsenal seem to have been flirting with the idea of signing Remy for much of the transfer window.

He wants to play Champions League football but his failed medical at Liverpool seems to have made other sides wary of going after him for a fee of around the £8 million mark in Arsenal’s case.

Danny Welbeck (Manchester United)

The Daily Mail has suggested that the Gunners were keen on adding Welbeck to their squad even before Olivier Giroud got injured.

He’d be a good, solid Premier League player to bring in although there are suggestions floating around United won’t sell to Arsenal because of Thomas Vermaelen’s move to Barcelona.

William Carvalho (Sporting Lisbon)

Carvalho has been suggested as a possible holding player for the Gunners.

The latest reports suggest Sporting have knocked £11 million off of their asking price for the Portuguese star, which could prompt Wenger into going all out for the midfielder, hopefully backed by Champions League qualification.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of other players in the transfer market but in each case deals look unlikely to happen quickly.

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has already said he expects Sami Khedira to stay at the club while there have been no fresh links relating to either of the Bender brothers in the Bundesliga.
