Italian newspaper Tuttosport claims Juventus have ‘slammed the door shut’ on any chances of Arturo Vidal heading off to Manchester United this summer.
United have been widely linked with a big money deal for the Chilean who is well suited to the 3-5-2 system currently deployed by Old Trafford head Louis van Gaal.
However, a translation of Tuttosport’s main page today (according to 101greatgoals.com) suggests that Vidal has had the Juve exit door slammed in his face.
United could still go after a deal but if the Serie A champions have made it clear to the player that he’s not leaving before the transfer deadline this Monday, it could be a simple case of the Old Trafford side wasting their time.
United have been boosted by the arrival of Angel di Maria from Real Madrid but there are further calls for more players, particularly in midfield and in the defence.
Vidal would give United that gritty and determined element to United’s midfield, which has been lacking after Michael Carrick’s injury but whether United have enough time to convince Juve to do business is doubtful.
