La Liga transfer latest: Barcelona announce new €5.5m signing

All the latest summer transfer rumours from La Liga...

Despite already signing the likes of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Thomas Vermaelen, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez, Barcelona have made yet another signing in the form of Sao Paulo right back Douglas. The 24-year-old has signed in a €5.5m deal as a backup to Dani Alves and Martin Montoya, as Barcelona communicated earlier today.

"FC Barcelona and São Paulo FC have reached an initial agreement for the transfer of Douglas Pereira," the club statement read. "The deal will cost Barça four million Euros with performance variables of another one and a half million based on games blocks. Douglas will travel to Barcelona for a medical at the end of this week, when he will also put pen to paper on a five year deal and be officially presented as the Club’s latest summer signing."

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid could look to make another addition to their front line in Liverpool's Fabio Borini. The Italian has been linked with an exit all summer after Liverpool snapped up Lazar Markovic, Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli, and Atletico may look to splash out for the former Chelsea and Roma forward after they allowed Adrian, David Villa and Diego Costa to leave the club.

Whilst Borini may head to the Spanish capital, another former Liverpool star is leaving the club. Left back Emmanuel Insua has slipped down the pecking order after the arrivals of Cristian Ansaldi and Guilherme Siqueira, and is heading off to cross-city neighbours Rayo Vallecano on a season-long loan deal.

Finally, Sevilla look poised to make a new signing with Southampton's Gaston Ramirez on the verge of a move to Andalusia. The Uruguayan playmaker has failed to make an impact on the South Coast since his 2012 move from Bologna, and is set to leave the Saints in order to gain first team football in Spain with Unai Emery's side after they sold Ivan Rakitic to Barcelona.
