Joe Allen in bizarre link to Manchester United
The Star have made the surprise claim that Joe Allen of Liverpool is a transfer target for Manchester United. The paper's exclusive reports that United sent scouts to watch the Welshman in action again Manchester City on Monday night. United are in desperate need of midfield additions, and have also been linked with Arturo Vidal and Daley Blind as potential options. Whether Allen's long-term future is at Liverpool or not, it is doubtful the Reds would sell to their rivals, despite the Star's claim about a £20 million bid being in the pipeline.
Arsenal make Danny Welbeck enquiry
The Mirror report Arsenal have enquired with Manchester United over the possibility of signing striker Danny Welbeck.
