Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign £24 million Arsenal target Adrien Rabiot.
The PSG midfielder has been linked with a move away from the French champions after finding his first-team chances limited and the North-London pair both reportedly hope to convince him to join the Premier League.
At 19, Rabiot remains a player who is learning his trade, but he did manage 25 appearances for PSG last season and remains highly regarded at the Ligue 1 club.
The problem for Rabiot is that he is at one of the richest clubs in the world and their regular signings of high-profile stars, which have continued this summer, have pushed him out of regular starting contention.
The central-midfielder has just one year left on his contract and, although PSG want to keep the youngster who is regarded as one of their best prospects, it seems he could be set for pastures new.
Laurent Blanc’s side are under no pressure to sell due to their extreme wealth and, as such, Rabiot’s asking price remains high, but Spurs are allegedly hoping to do a deal.
Mauricio Pochettino reportedly sees the French youth international as someone who can add a presence to his midfield ranks and further enhance the quality of his squad.
Spurs have made a promising start to the season – winning their first two fixtures – but they are expected to make a few more additions before the transfer window closes after a quiet summer so far.
Rabiot would certainly be the most expensive of the potential new arrivals, but he could also possess the most class.
Arsenal were thought to be keen on taking him, but their reluctance to pay a fee this season – preferring to risk trying to get him on a free next year – has reportedly seen Tottenham steal a march and they could miss out on one of Arsene Wenger’s apparent targets as a result.
