Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela says that he hopes to start scoring goals in the upcoming matches in the Premier League.

Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela has been a revitalised figure this season and has already shown that he will be a key player in their 2014-15 Premier League campaign.

The Argentina winger started Spurs’ game against West Ham United at the Boleyn Ground, but he failed to have a big effect (click here to read more)

Lamela was substituted just past the hour mark after showing his brilliance in flashes, but against Queens Park Rangers at White Hart Lane on Sunday he was on fire.

The Tottenham youngster created no fewer than two goals, as Mauricio Pochettino’s side eased to a 4-0 win against their London rivals to climb to the top of the league table (click here to read more).

It is still early days and things could go south as the season progresses, but Lamela, who joined Tottenham from AS Roma for a reported transfer fee of £30 million last summer, seems to have finally hit his stride in English football.

Having assisted in his teammates’ goals both in the Premier League and in the Europa League qualifier – he created two in Spurs’ comeback win against AEL Limassol last week – Lamela now wants to start scoring them.

‘I am happy because the team played very well and we won’, the North London club’s official website quotes him as saying. ‘It was great that we controlled the game – that was very important – and getting the three points was everything.

‘The assists weren’t the whole of my game, they were just one small part of it. I didn’t score but I hope in the next games I will.

‘I worked very hard for the team and the assists were just the icing on the cake. The most important thing is three points and a Spurs win’.

Lamela has yet to show his goalscoring exploits in England – he failed to score any in the league for Spurs last season – but if he adds that to his game, then Tottenham could have one of the most lethal youngsters in the Premier League.
