Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says striker Mario Balotelli knows he’s on his last chance at Anfield.
“He’s a bright boy, a very clever person – I spent around three and a half hours talking with him and he knows this is his last chance at this level,” said Rodgers.
The worry that many have had over Balotelli’s move to Liverpool is his behaviour and attitude.
The MNF punditry team discussed the factors as to why Balotelli has now been moved on from three top class clubs in Inter Milan, Manchester City and now AC Milan.
That would suggest there is a trend with the player and something, which causes him to rub managers up the wrong way.
The job for Rodgers is to find a way to consistently get the best out of Balotelli while ensuring that he behaves himself in the right way.
Rodgers also commented last night on the fact that the Reds are a big family club with a strong team spirit and values which demand good behaviour at all times.
There has been talk in the recent past of various clauses which could be inserted into Balotelli’s Liverpool contract.
A code of conduct would put pressure on the forward to behave in the right way but he’s likely to have been told what’s expected of him in that regard plenty of times throughout his career.
Liverpool could well have made a very special signing but Rodgers and the club can only do much to get the best out of Balotelli, it’s up to him to show the right attitude and the motivation to score more goals than anyone else this season.
