Seville based newspaper Estadio Deportivo claims Tottenham Hotspur will look to resolve all conflicts surrounding Federico Fazio and pay the €10 million fee for the 27-year-old Argentine at some point today.
Spurs have been hunting further defensive reinforcements in the transfer market following the successful arrival of Eric Dier coupled with the imminent departure of Michael Dawson.
It would seem Spurs are moving closer to a permanent deal for Fazio and an agreed fee would allow the player to undergo a medical and agree terms with the North Londoners.
“The issue (Fazio’s future) should be resolved today with the payment on record by the English club,” reports ED.
It shouldn’t be a major surprise Sevilla have been battling hard to try and keep Fazio at the club because he has captaincy experience and an extremely important member of their first team.
They have also already seen part of their defence from last season leave, with Alberto Moreno making a £12 million move to Liverpool.
Fazio is well suited to the English game, he would add valuable experience into the back four and Tottenham still have time left to get the transfer completed and signed off in full.
ED also comments that Sevilla have been working hard to try and get Fazio tied down to a new contract, with the player suggesting that talks hadn’t been promised to him until September, when it becomes impossible for him to leave.
Everything is falling into place for Spurs to sign a good player for a great fee. Fingers crossed an official announcement follows this report in MD.
