Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is thrilled with the signing of Angel di Maria.
The Argentine winger provided an incredible 17 assists in La Liga last season, and could be the key to United unlocking the potential of their attack and helping Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie flourish.
Van Gaal told ManUtd.com: "Angel is a world-class midfielder but most importantly he is a team player. There is no doubting his immense natural talent.
"He is a tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence. His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team."
The winger brings with him a Champions League medal, and at 26 is the ideal age to kick on and take a new challenge after an often tumultuous relationship with the Real Madrid fanbase.
Di Maria himself had kind words for his new boss: "Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started."
United aim for the paperwork to be completed in time for him to make his debut against Burnley in the Premier League this coming Saturday.
Van Gaal urged after United's loss to MK Dons, in which Di Maria did not feature, that the Argentine will need to 'adapt' to the Premier League but he did hint more success was around the corner.
The Dutchman said that Di Maria can allow him to 'change the system', offering 'better wing play', also able to play in midfield.
Last night may have been a depressing low for fans on the pitch, but there is hope it will dramatically improve.
