Yorkshire latest - Leeds does Sloth deal, Cellino on Hockaday; Blades in for talented free-agent

Here's the latest news from Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield Town and Sheffield United.

Casper Sloth to complete Leeds United move

Casper Sloth has agreed a three-year-deal at Leeds United and will be officially announced as a Whites player in the near future, according to reports in Denmark.

With his move in the balance, Sloth, a central-midfielder currently playing for Aarhaus, has been left out of the club's last two games, but the deal appears to have been finalised today.

The 22-year-old Danish international is a much-needed addition for the Whites, whose midfield has looked below par so far this season.

Cellino comments on Hockaday

Massimo Cellino, Leeds United’s outspoken owner, admits that at one stage this weekend David Hockaday was going to be sacked.

The Whites lost 4-1 to Watford on Saturday and Cellino says that the result almost pushed Hockaday out of the door.

However, after 24 hours to think, the Whites owner reflected on his position and has decided to offer Hockaday more time to put things right.

“At Watford, I decided to sack him,” Cellino revealed. “I said, ‘He’s finished’. I wasn’t happy. I was ashamed of the performance and it (sacking Hockaday) was what I wanted to do...........

“But, in my life, I have learned that with your decisions, take 24 hours. Why should I blame the coach?........

“The squad isn’t finished and that is my fault. Signings players has been harder than I thought so if I fire anyone, I should fire myself or else I am a coward. I have to control my ego.........

“This coach, he might not be a good coach, but sacking him now is not fair. I cannot say if he is good or not.

Huddersfield make successful appeal

Huddersfield Town have successfully appealed the red-card handed to Murray Wallace in their 1-1 draw with Charlton Athletic at the weekend.

The centre-back was banished from the field on Saturday, after apparently denying a goalscoring opportunity, but video replays have since shown the decision to be an incorrect one.

Stuart Gray hails Sheffield Wednesday

Stuart Gray has hailed his Sheffield Wednesday side’s start to the season.

The Owls have remained unbeaten through their first four Championship fixtures, and won 3-2 away at fancied Middlesbrough this Saturday.

“Considering it took us so long to win last season, it is a great start,” Gray said.

"We scored three great goals, hit the post a couple of times and looked a very good side. I am pleased for the boys; it was a great win.

“The team spirit in the camp is fantastic. We have beaten Brighton and Middlesbrough away and were unlucky to concede a last-minute goal against Millwall (during Tuesday’s 1-1 draw).”

Sheffield United in for Eagles

Sheffield United have offered free-agent winger Chris Eagles a contract, according to a report.

The 28-year-old was released by Bolton Wanderers this summer and is still looking for a club, as the transfer window draws to a close.

It means that he could be forced to drop down a level with Blades hoping to convince him to join their promotion charge.
