Internet pranksters have mocked up the Manchester United midfielder as the midfielder they really want to sign.
Manchester United have been linked with signing Arturo Vidal all summer, but right now this mocked up photo may be as close as they are going to get.
Internet pranksters mocked up a photo of under-performer Tom Cleverley with Vidal's trademark haircut and tattoos and name on the back of his shirt.
Cleverley's poor display for United against Sunderland was emblematic of the problem facing United in midfield, and showed even Louis van Gaal's miracle touch is failing to have an immediate impact at the club.
Van Gaal commented after the game that Vidal was a player he admired, stating, reported by Goal: "Yeah [I like Di Maria]. But I like Messi also and Vidal also. There are a lot of players who I like. But they cannot always come to Manchester United."
It was certainly a mischievous comment, and perhaps rather than an admission of defeat regarding the Chilean, one aimed at putting pressure on the club's board over the final week of the window.
If he fails to do so, the club may be stuck with Tom Cleverley, regardless of any haircut he tries.
Are United's hopes of signing Vidal alive or dead?
