Real Madrid star attacker has long been linked with an Estadio Santiago Bernabeu exit but now it appears a Manchester United switch is all but confirmed.
According to a post filtered through MARCA's official social media channel on Twitter, Real Madrid forward and Manchester United target Angel di Maria "is already in Manchester." The photo from that tweet had not been confirmed by a British source, however, the Daily Mail believe they have snapped the coveted player arriving at Carrington; the club's training ground - in Chevrolet; vehicles manufactured by the club's shirt sponsor, no less.
Di Maria - a 26-year-old from Rosaria, Argentina - would cost Manchester United £63.9 million in what would easily smash the British club-transfer record for a fee paid, rather than fee received.
Sky Sports reported the prospective fee earlier and the move was talked-up by beinSports analyst Andy Gray, who said that the Argentine international was a player of "quality" and was only a level below the true elite of Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale.
Di Maria, who will likely be entrusted with the hallowed number seven jersey, would be Louis van Gaal's second signing since beginning his Manchester United tenure, following on from Marcos Rojo, who is still yet to receive a work permit.
He is the fourth addition at Old Trafford, after Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera.
The current record fee paid to a British club for a transfer was the £50 million Chelsea paid Liverpool for the acquisition of Fernando Torres.
