If United pull off this monster £100m+ triple signing this week it proves one thing

In the latest Manchester United transfer news, the club could be on the cusp of a historic week sealing deals for a hat-trick of elite-level stars.

Angel di Maria is all but confirmed as the man responsible for smashing a British club transfer record as Manchester United have reportedly agreed a £63.9 million fee with Real Madrid, ahead of an official switch this week.

If that signing alone was not enough to buoy the atmosphere around Old Trafford, the Argentine could actually be the first part of an extraordinary triple swoop that could set Manchester United back by at least £100 million.

According to reports, di Maria will be the first to arrive but deals for Arturo Vidal and Ron Vlaar could swiftly follow (Goal.com), while other publications believe Ajax utility Daley Blind could also be a part of the transfer picture.

If Vidal is to swap Juventus for United, the Chilean box-to-box midfield sensation would likely fetch a £45 million fee.

Blind, of course, would be the more modest asset in the summer window, with a £20 million price-tag likely to be enough in order to convince the Eredivisie giants to part ways with the World Cup star.

Blind's international team-mate Vlaar, meanwhile, could cost anywhere upwards of at least £10 million.

If Manchester United can do the audacious and add two more significant signings to the di Maria deal to score a transfer hat-trick, then it would clearly prove one thing - that Louis van Gaal's club are far bigger than the lure of Champions League football.

Previously, falling out of the top four in the Premier League was believed to cast a club off into a transfer market abyss, where a manager is unable to attract the top talent as the club cannot offer one thing all competitors in football want - to participate in the Champions League.

It is a twist of irony that United could offer that this time last year, but failed miserably in acquiring talent, with moves for Javi Martinez, Ander Herrera and Francesc Fabregas all failing to materialise.

But this year, should the rumours transpire into reality, then Manchester United will have welcomed Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo, Angel di Maria, Arturo Vidal and Daley Blind to the club all in the space of one window… or two months.
