He's got no pace! £20m Manchester United target Blind criticised by Cruyff

Ajax star Daley Blind's lack of pace has been highlighted by Dutch legend Johan Cruyff, as the star continues to be linked to Manchester United.

Dutch legend Johan Cruyff has called out a poor element of Daley Blind's game, in lamenting Ajax's loss to PSV.

Ajax were defeated 3-1 at home against their rivals, with Blind playing all 90 minutes in central midfield.

The Netherland international has been linked with a £20 million move to link up with World Cup boss Louis van Gaal in recent weeks, but could Cruyff's comments explain why he may land up not making a switch?

He is quoted by Voetball International: "No one came out and played combination football. For that you need a high ball speed, but that is difficult when you play with one of Viergever and Blind in midfield. Both of which are not fast enough and technically in order to accelerate."

Blind is not perhaps the dynamic midfielder United need, but more of a defensively minded player.

And with Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo both capable of playing at left wing-back, it's unlikely he would play in the position he played at the World Cup for Holland.

Manager Louis van Gaal did not use him in central midfield, and it's here he would need to play should he make the switch to the Red Devils. A lack of pace could be a reason why he elects not to.
